A new initiative was started by the CM of Assam Mr. Himante Biswan Sarma for the females, students, and disabled residents of the state to offer them scooter vehicles for their transportation. The scheme is named as Assam Sakhi Express Scheme 2024. The inauguration of the scheme was held on 21st August 2022 for fiscal year 2021-22. By receiving this scooter it will be convenient for all females, students, and disabled persons to travel from one place to another without any wait for public transport. The women who are attached to Self Help Groups will be eligible. During the inauguration day, multiple candidates will receive scooters. About Assam Sakhi Express Scheme 2024
Assam Sakhi Express Scheme 2023 aims to distribute a maximum number of scooters to the disabled or self-help group women. Around 6,670 scooters will be distributed to the community workers in 2021-22. And for the financial year 2020-21, 4238 scooters will be distributed. A total of 10,908 scooters have been distributed to date. The females who work under SHGs will be called Sakhis and will get scooters under this scheme. The Sakhis who are included under this scheme are Krishi Sakhi, Bima Sakhi, Pashu Sakhi, and Bima Sakhi. All these Sakhis will become self-dependent and able to travel freely without any disturbance.

Objective of Assam Sakhi Express Scheme
The main aim of Assam Sakhi Express Scheme 2023 is to provide free scooters to the Krishi Sakhi, Bima Sakhi, Pashu Sakhi, and Bima Sakhis and Physically disabled citizens of Assam for their convenience of traveling in without depending on public transport.
