PM Scholarship Scheme (PMSS):- Hello Dear Readers, Today we are going to tell you about the PM Scholarship Scheme. Prime Minister scholarship scheme is run by the rehabilitation board, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. This scheme aims to encourage higher, technical, and professional education for the wards and windows of martyred Central armed police forces, Assam rifles, and state police personnel. Through this scheme, the government has helped lots of the students. The government has made a few changes in the scheme we will discuss those changes in this article. We will cover other important details also like the benefits of the scheme, eligibility criteria, procedure to apply for this scheme, etc.

About the PM Scholarship Scheme

The PM Scholarship Scheme is a scheme that aims to provide scholarships to widows and wards of martyred CRPF police, Assam rifles, and state police personnel. The Government of India has made certain changes in the scheme regarding the reward amount for both girls and boys. Previously it was Rs 2250 for girls but now it is Rs 3000 per month. And it was Rs 2000 for boys but now it has become Rs 2500. An additional 500 new kinds of scholarships will be given to students under this scheme. Every year many students get to benefit from this scheme.

Eligibility Criteria for PM Scholarship Scheme Scheme

To avail of the benefits of the PM Scholarship scheme the following eligibility criteria have been decided:-

  • You should be a dependant ward or widow of Martyred CRPF Police, Assam Rifles, and State Police Personnel
  • You must be doing professional courses
  • Class 12 / diploma/graduation is the minimum educational qualification
  • To apply for these courses the candidate should have scored at least 60% marks or above
  • For renewal, the candidate must obtain at least 50% marks in the qualifying examination
  • The scholarship scheme will also cover the words of state police officials who are martyred during naxal or terror attacks as per the latest decision made by the government of India

Not Eligible For the PM Scholarship Scheme
  • Master degree courses are not available but the exception is made for MBA and MCA
  • A student who is pursuing their studies from distance learning mode are not eligible to get the scholarship
  • Children who receive a stipend for professional degree courses will not get this scholarship
  • Students who are studying abroad are not eligible to get the scholarship
  • the words of civilians including paramilitary personnel are not eligible to get this scholarship
  • The students studying abroad are not eligible for the PM scholarship scheme
Eligible People to Get PM Scholarship Scheme
  • Wards of ex-servicemen and their windows below officer rank
  • Ward of ex-servicemen died in harness
  • Wards or widows of ex-servicemen died in harness due to causes attributed to military Service
  • This scheme is only open for widows and unmarried wards of ESM/ widow
  • Marriage/ remarriage  would not disqualify the awardees
  • The wards of state police officials who are/were martyred during terror / Naxal attack
  • Serving candidate is not eligible for this scheme
Documents Required for the PM Scholarship Scheme

Following is the list of documents that are required to apply for the PM Scholarship scheme:-

  • Serving certificate issued by HOO in case of serving personnel
  • Certificate of minimum educational qualification MEQ as applicable class 12th mark sheet,  graduation mark sheet for all years, or diploma mark sheet for all semesters
  • PPO/discharge certificate/book mandatory for category A to dF
  • Death certificate applicable for deceased personal
  • Certificate issued by concerned state government indicating that the state police personnel was killed in a naxal / terror attack
  • Disability certificate applicable for a disabled person
  • Certificate of Gallantry award applicable for gallantry award winners

Rewards of the PM Scholarship Scheme

  • Around 2000 candidates will get benefits under the scheme every year
  • The scholarship amount is Rs 3000 per month for girls and Rs 2500 per month for boys
  • This amount is transferred directly into the bank account of the beneficiary
  • The scholarship scheme is paid annually
  • The duration of the scholarship depends upon the duration of the course
  • 500 more scholarship schemes are introduced which will be given to wards of state police personnel who were martyred during Naxal /terror attacks

Selection Criteria for the PM Scholarship Scheme

  • Category A: The words and widows of CRPF personnel who were killed in action will be given first preference
  • Category B: The wards of Ex-CAPFs and AR personnel who get disabled in the action will get the second preference
  • C: The wards  and widows of CAPFs and AR personnel who are disabled during their service with disability attributed to government service will be given third preference
  • Category D: The wards of Ex-CAPFs and AR  personnel  who are disabled during services disability attributed to government service will be given fourth preference
  • Category E: The wards of  Ex-CAPFs and AR  personnel who have received gallantry awards will be given fifth preference
  • F: The wards of Ex-CAPFs and AR  personnel(PBOR only)  will receive sixth preference
  • Category G: The last preference will be given to the wards of serving CAPFs and AR  personnel(PBOR only)   subject to the availability of scholarship
  • Preference will also be given to the dependents of state police personnel who died during naxal / terror attack

Renewal of the PM Scholarship Scheme

  • You have to obtain at least 50% marks in each semester or academic year
  • You have to pass all subjects in each year/semester in a single attempt

  • Now you have to click on the registration link
  • Now read the application guidelines very carefully and check if you are eligible or not
  • If eligible then continue to proceed
  • Fill in all the required details
  • Now click on the register
  • you will get the registered user ID and password on your mobile number
  • Now login to the portal using the user ID and password that you received on your mobile number
  • You will get an OTP on your registered mobile number
  • Verify that OTP and change the password
  • Now you can fill out the scholarship application form
  • Now upload all the required documents and click on submit
