AP YSR Free Crop Insurance Scheme:- To support the farmers in their hard times the government of Andhra Pradesh has launched YSR Free Crop Insurance Scheme on 15th December 2020. Under this scheme, the Respective Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will credit Rs. 1252 crore into the bank account of farmers to help them. About the Free Crop Insurance Scheme

The chief minister of Andhra Pradesh will credit the amount of Rs. 1252 into the bank account of 9.48 lakh Farmers who lost their crops during the Kharif season. Under the YSR Free Crop Insurance Scheme, Insurance will be given to the farmers without any burden of premium. Previously farmers needed to pay their share to avail the benefit of the insurance. But now the government has resolved this issue to benefit the farmers and process the claim without even paying the premium amount. While the farmers had to pay the insurance amount then only around 20 farmers were enrolled for insurance coverage. In 2016-17 only 17.79 lakh farmers had insurance cover, in 2017-18 only 18.22 farmers had enrolled themselves and in 2018-19 only 24.83 farmers were bought under insurance. But if we talk about the government of 2019-20 the number of farmers who enrolled was 49.50.

Release Of Payment Under Insurance Scheme

The Chief Minister YSR Jagan Mohan Reddy has released the payment of Rs. 1820.30 crores today on 25th May 2021. The amount will be directly transferred into the bank of beneficiaries. Around 15.15 lakh eligible farmers will get financial amounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer Method. The Chief Minister was present at his office in Tadepalli. A new scheme for the Farmer’s welfare will soon be launched by the government.

Paid Claim Under Free Crop Insurance Scheme

The Crop Insurance for the year 2018-19 has been paid by the government of Rs. 122.61 crores which was spent by the previous government. The present government paid this premium on 26 June 2020. Around Rs. 596.26 crores have been paid for Kharif 2019 to 5.94 farmers. From the year 2016 to 2020 the number of farmers has increased under the scheme. The list of increased farmers is as below

  • In 2016-17, 17.79 lakh farmers increased.
  • 2017-18, 18.22 lakh farmers increased.
  • In 2018-19, the 24.83 lakh farmers increased.
  • 2019-20, 49.50 lakh farmers increased.
  • In 2020-21, 15.15 lakh farmers increased.

Payment Status Under YSR Free Crop Insurance Scheme


All interested farmers who want to check the payment status under the YSR Free Crop Insurance Scheme will have to visit the bank in which they have a bank account. After visiting the bank account, make an entry in the passbook. Later you will get the details of payment status in the passbook. The government transfers the payment through the direct benefit transfer method directly into the bank account of beneficiaries. Through this, the farmers can easily check the payment status

Financial Assistance For the Year 2021 Under YSR Free Crop Insurance Scheme 

As we all know the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh has launched YSR Free Crop Insurance Scheme to provide financial assistance to the farmers. Now the state government of Andhra Pradesh has released Rs. 2,586.90 crores to the eligible beneficiaries for the insurance premium. This amount will directly be credited into the bank account of the beneficiaries on 25th May 2021. All the interested applicants who want to search for their name in the beneficiary list of this scheme will have to visit the Rythu Bharosa Kendras.

Objective Of Free Crop Insurance Scheme

To help the farmers who have lost their crops due to heavy rains, droughts, and other natural calamities at the time of harvest, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh has launched the YSR Free Crop Insurance Scheme. Under this scheme, Rs. 1252 crore will be provided to 9.48 farmers without paying any premium amount. The main aim of this scheme is to save farmers from paying heavy premium amounts which cause a financial burden on them. The main objective of this scheme is to bring transparency in governance to the next level. Along with that, the government will build 10,641 Rythu Bharosa Kendra at the village secretariat and compensation to benefit the farmers.

Rythu Bharosa Kendra Under YSR Free Crop Insurance

The details of Crops lost during the Rabi season will be displayed at Rythu Bharosa Kendra. The government has established around 10,641 RBKs along with the village secretary and the compensation around this will be paid by December 31. After the establishment of these Kendra, the details related to the lost crops will be displayed at the Kendra for social audit and the farmers who are missing from the list will get enrolled at Rythu Bharosa Kendra itself.

Implementation Of AP YSR Free Crop Insurance

The chief minister of Andhra Pradesh has been working on the AP YSR Free Crop Insurance scheme and for the successful implementation of this scheme, he has established around 10641 Rythu Bharosa Kendra for social audit and to make the list of missing farmers to enroll themself. This will bring transparency to the scheme. Along with that the government is also purchasing germinated and discolored crops to ensure that no farmer will suffer financially. The announcement was made via video conferencing and along with the farmers’ Minister K Kannababu, Chelluboyina, Venugopal Krishna, AP Agri Mission Vice-Chairman MVS Nagi Reddy, and Concerned Officials were present at the meeting.
