National Overseas Scholarship Scheme:- To provide educational opportunities to students who have low family income, the central government has launched a new scheme known as National Overseas Scholarship Scheme. About the National Overseas Scholarship Scheme
Students belonging to scheduled castes, denotified nomadic hot and semi-nomadic tribes, landless agricultural laborers and traditional artisans category families will be rewarded with financial assistance to continue their education. The main aim of launching the National Overseas Scholarship Scheme is to help lower-income group students in continuing their education. Every year around 100 scholarships are available for the lower-income category students to continue their education in masters and Ph.D. courses abroad in Institutions or universities. Under the scholarship, 30% of the seats are booked for women students. Objective Of the National Overseas Scholarship Scheme
As we all know there are many students in the country who due to their weak financial condition and low income are not able to continue their studies. The students will get the contingency allowance under this scheme which is available for books essential apparatus study to travel costs for attending subject-related conferences and workshops. Selection Procedure Under National Overseas Scholarship
- The preference will be given to the candidate who has received an unconditional offer of admission from 1000 ranked foreign universities for institutes.
- The scholarship will be awarded to the student on a merit basis. Students who have an offer letter from a higher rank university or student will have a higher rank in the merit list.
- If there is a time between a student then the position is of the students who have obtained higher marks in the last examination.
- If there are not sufficient students after the third cycle of selection, then the candidates who have obtained unconditional offers of admission will be present in the fourth cycle.
- The students can submit their applications before the selection committee so they can get the recommendation for selection and ranking.
- After the whole procedure, the selected student will get a provisional scholarship letter.
- Also, the provision assurance letter will be given to those students who have not yet secured admission to foreign universities or institutions.
- The student who got the scholarship award will have to join the course within three years which they have selected.
- The provision assurance letter will be provided to the candidate for one year.
- Those who have received the provisional assurance will have to obtain an unconditional offer of admission.
- For those who fail to receive the unconditional offer of admission then the assurance will be automatically canceled.
Monitoring Of the National Overseas Scholarship Scheme
- The Indian mission is responsible for getting annual progress reports from the university or institution where the student is pursuing education.
- If there is a decision to continue then the mission will inform the ministry about the development.
- The mission will advise the student to put in serious efforts to improve their achievements.
- The maintenance allowance will be paid with the furnishing of the progress report.
- The student will be rewarded the maintenance allowance in advance during the first semester.
- The maintenance allowance in the second semester will be paid after getting the satisfactory progress report.
- For monitoring and implementation, the portal will be set up.
- 1.5% of the budget allocation will be for inter alia including engagement of suitable persons or technical experts, development of the module of the portal traveling, organizing meeting conferences, and other essential expenditures.

Important Points For National Overseas Scholarship
- 30% of the scholarship is reserved for women.
- If there is an ability of the successful candidates, the award will be given to the candidates belonging to other categories.
- All those applicants who are already studying abroad are not eligible
- No bachelor courses will be given under this scheme
- If the candidates have a conditional offer of admission then they will be selected for a grant of scholarship during the first three rounds of scholarship.
- The selection priority during the fourth cycle will be those candidates who have a conditional offer letter of admission from a top 1000 ranking Institution, who have an unconditional offer letter of admission from another recognized institution, and the students who have submitted the proof of applying in any recognized institution.
- If there is any kind of financial condition that as the deposit of fee or any other amount then it will not be considered as the consideration of the application.

The decision of the state will be taken by the government of India. Extension of the state will be without financial assistance or other kind except the air passage to return to India. The stay period will only be allowed if it is mandatory to facilitate the candidates to complete the course.
False Information Under National Overseas Scholarship Scheme
If any of the candidates has updated false information about themselves then such candidates will be eliminated from the award of the scholarship. The student after work will have to pay the scholarship amount of 15% of compound interest. The candidate will be blacklisted for the future. If in some cases the candidate is employed then they have to face a department election for which the government of India will take action. Also, the employer will be advised to go through the content of the application before providing NOC.
Conditions To Apply Under the National Overseas Scholarship Scheme
- The student will have to get a visa for the country where he or she intends to study.
- Students are also required to provide a no-objection certificate from the employer.
- All those applicants who already acquired a master’s Ph.D. qualification can not avail of the benefit of this scheme.
- After getting the award of a scholarship the candidates are required to return to India.
- The selected candidates are required to submit the documents and furnish all the important information.
- Also, have to submit an undertaking that he or she will allow the University to share the information with concerned Indian missionaries abroad.
- If the candidate gets overpayment by the Indian mission then they are liable to refund the excess amount.
- If the candidate is married and decides to take their spouse and children with them, then the responsibility of the extras will be upon them.
- The candidate has to take a nonjudicial stamp or a bond before the notary public with surety.
- This bond will contain the estimated expenditure in Indian rupees.
Eligibility Criteria
- An applicant must be a permanent resident of India
- He or she must have scored at least 60% off marks in their last examination.
- The age of the applicant should be more than 35 years.
- Family income should not exceed more than 8 lakh per annum.
- The benefit of this scheme will be given to only two children of the same family. In this case, they have to submit a self-certificate.
- The candidate must not avail of the benefit of the scholarship for 2nd time.
