West Bengal Chokher Alo Scheme:- Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched the West Bengal Chokher Alo Scheme on 5 Jan 2021 to provide free-of-cost eye treatment and spectacles to the senior citizens of the state. Under this scheme along with the free-of-cost eye treatment, the cataract operation will also be done free of cost. About WB Chokher Alo Scheme
The main aim of the WB Chokher Alo Scheme is to provide free-of-cost eye treatment to senior citizens. Along with that, this scheme will also ensure cataract surgeries for senior citizens. The chief minister of West Bengal has launched this scheme with the aim of eyes for all by 2025 and also set the target to operate cataracts of at least 20 lakh senior citizens. West Bengal government will also provide free spectacles to around 8.25 lakh people who have undergone Cataract surgery. After the Duare Duare Paschim Banga Sarkar and Paray Paray Samadhan, this is another great scheme that has been launched for the citizens of West Bengal
Objective Of WB Chokher Alo Scheme
There are many senior citizens in the state of West Bengal who due to their weak financial condition are not able to take regular eye check-ups and this results in the weakness of their eyesight continuously. By keeping this in mind the chief minister of West Bengal has launched WB Chokher Alo Scheme. Under this scheme, free-of-cost eye treatment and cataract operations will be provided to the senior citizens of the state. Along with that, the government will also provide free spectacles to various aged people who have undergone cataract surgery.

Free Eye Treatment Under WB Chokher Alo Scheme
As we told you above under WB Chokher Alo Scheme free-of-cost eye treatment will be provided to all the senior citizens of the state. and the target has been set by the government for cataract surgery for at least 20 lakh senior citizens. The main aim of this scheme is to ensure eyes for all by 2025. Along with that, the free-cost spectacles will be provided to 8.25 lakh elderly people. Along with that, the state government of West Bengal will also conduct the free cost eye test for 10 lakh students out of which 4 lakhs will get free spectacles. In addition to them, the Anganwadi workers will also get the opportunity to have they’re free of cost eye checkups. The government has arranged 300 doctors and 400 optometry technicians for the better implementation of the WB Chokher Alo Scheme
Phase 1st Of the Chokher Alo Scheme
The first phase of the WB Chokher Alo Scheme has been started from 5th January 2021. under the first phase of the scheme around 1200 gram panchayats and 120 primary Health, centers are covered. Along with that, this chief minister has also inaugurated an advanced trauma care facility hospital that is equipped with modern infrastructures and facilities. There are a total of 10 crore units that have 20 beds, 2 operation theatres, and 10 beds of recovery rooms. Along with that, there are Orthopedic Surgeons and Neurosurgeons for emergency cases.
