The Government of India and the CPV (Consular, Passport, and Visa) Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA) collaborated on the Passport Seva initiative. One of NeGP’s (National e-Government Plan) key initiatives is being developed in a public-private partnership with TCS (Tata Consultancy Services). The MEA intended to make mobile services available to the general public at the same time as the idea for the mPassport app was created and released. The actions listed below must be followed by the user to apply for a new passport using the mPassport Seva:
- First, you have to Download the mPassport Seva app on your Android mobile app.
- Go to the Play Store section of your phone and search for the mPassport Seva App, then click on the install button.
- The app’s dashboard will display on the screen.
- At this point, select the New User Registration button.
- Choose the Passport Office option after that.
- The screen will change to a new page.
- Now, input all the necessary information, such as your name, email address, birth date, etc.
- After that, enter a strong password and a unique login ID.
- If you forget your password, select a security question and answer.
- After entering the captcha code, press the “Submit” button.
- After clicking the verification link, the applicant will be directed to a new page where they will be asked to confirm their login ID.
- After the account has been validated, the applicant must stop using the app and launch it again.
- Click the Existing User tab now.
- The screen will change to a new page.
- Put in your login information, password, and captcha code.
- Click on “Apply for a New Passport” after that.

Children between the ages of 15 and 18 have the choice of applying for a minor passport, which is valid until they turn 18, or a full-validity passport, which is valid for ten years. For various levels of validity, different costs are applicable.
