The government of West Bengal is going to launch a new scheme for the farmers to opt for the Public Distribution framework. The main aim of launching this scheme was to supply them free of cost rice to almost 10 crore individuals till the upcoming June 2021. About WB Kharif Paddy Procurement Scheme
Under this scheme, the government expects to add more than 30 lacs farmers said the state food and civil supplies minister Jyoti Priya Mallick. Around 13 lacs of the expected 72 lakh farmers have enrolled themselves in the scheme up till now. The civil supplies Minister also said that we are trying to contact as many as we can to secure paddy to keep an unhampered supply of rice for a Public Distribution framework. As soon as the scheme begins we will start securing paddy by the end of December 2020.

Objective Of the Kharif Paddy Procurement Scheme
As we all know a bumper kharif harvest coupled with low demand for Swarno Masurie, scares farmers a lot to pull down paddy prices below the minimum support prices. Keeping this in mind the Government of West Bengal has launched the Kharif Procurement Scheme. Under this scheme, the state government will widen rice procurement among farmers. And will buy around 45 quintals of paddy from them and this will benefit the farmers to lead their lives.
